Timely and accurate BCMS reporting made easy
An article on the Farmers Weekly website about BCMS record keeping highlighted the importance of having a routine to ensure timely and accurate cattle passport applications and movement notifications.
Farmers are increasingly moving to electronic reporting rather than using the postal service. As well as the CTS Online website, cattle keepers have a further electronic report option available through approved herd management software packages.
A herd management package will usually offer enterprise performance monitoring as well as legislative record keeping facilities, like Movement Book. Since the cattle details and movement book records will be held in the management program, it is logical for the software to be able to update the keeper’s BCMS records via the Internet. Most software packages on the market offer this facility but must first have successfully passed a technical test with the BCMS before being issued to farmers.
The Orchid includes an automatic link to the BCMS in it’s standard package. All that is required is the cattle keeper’s User ID and password, which are the same as those used to log into the CTS Online website.
To see an example of how a management program makes it easy to send cattle data to the CTS, have a look at two short videos using the Orchid Herd Managment program as an example. Just click on the links below. If your PC has speakers, turn them on as audio narration is included in each video:
