With the increasing popularity of Android devices in the form of smartphones and tablets, Orchid are pleased to announce the availability of a farm app add-on for the Orchid FarmWizard sheep recording system.

The App, which uses a wireless Bluetooth connection to an EID stick reader, enables electronic sheep tags to be scanned quickly, with the tag numbers being stored on the Android device. Information like lambing details, vet treatments and weights can be recorded against individual or batches of tags, making for a simple and cost-effective recording system, especially for those new to using software for flock data recording.

Once the data recording session is complete, the data on the Android device can be transferred to the main Orchid farm software system, which provides a full featured package for statutory performance recording.  All the necessary management and legislative reports (including farm assurance reports) can then be produced with a few mouse clicks.
