Are you having problems with Microsoft Outlook and Windows 10? While most people’s experience of Windows 10 has been largely positive, a few people, myself included, have come up against an odd issue when using Microsoft Outlook with the new operating system.
The problem arises when sending and receiving mail. Outlook receives the mail OK, but then proceeds to “hang” whilst attempting to send mail, showing this screen:
Eventually, the whole process just times out, and you can be faced with an error screen, showing this, or something similar:
- Open a command prompt, with Administrator Privileges. (For details on how to do this, see: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3288-command-prompt-open-windows-10-a.html)
- Type the following: sfc /scannow
- Press enter, and let it run. This runs the System File Check utility, which runs a check on your Windows system files, and repairs or replaces any that are missing or corrupted.
- Once it has finished, do a reboot of your PC for good measure.
This completely fixed the issue for me, and many others, it seems.
